We've picked Attachments by Rainbow Rowell as our next book discussion book. It's a laugh out loud 1999 office drama, centered around Lincoln, a newly hired Internet Security Officer, whose job requires him to read his coworkers emails. Enter Beth and Jennifer, two email chatty coworkers who continue to break company email rules with their ongoing banter, and Lincoln just can't seem to stop reading it. Rowell has woven a tale of friendship, love, trust, and hope, using authentic 90's voices in a time when the world was just on the brink of information overload. It's a quick read and is available for download on the Libby app. Join us on August 19 at 7:30pm for "On The Same Page" with Debbie and Nadine, as we discuss the novel and our favorite memories from 1999 and Y2K. Please join my meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone. https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/276731437 You can also dial in using your phone. Miss you! Nadine and Briana
This week's Virtual Cozy Book Chat talked about books we wish were movies and books that made great (or not so great) movie adaptations. We had a terrific discussion! Coincidentally this week's winning review by library patron Deborah, (congrats Deborah!) was the streaming movie series "Little Fires Everywhere" which is based on the novel by Celeste Ng. Deborah gave the show a solid 5 stars and she also mentioned that she loved the book as well. It's always terrific when our favorite books adapt to film enjoyably!
Speaking of movies, did you try our new library streaming service Hoopla Digital? If not, you're going to want to check it out. Hoopla Digital is for Oceanside cardholders (over 18) that offers streaming and downloadable movies, audio books, TV shows, eBooks, music, comics and graphic novels. Best of all there are no wait times or holds so you can watch or listen right away. Check out our site for more information on Hoopla and then go and rate the title you watched or listened to for a chance to be a winner like Deborah! Be sure to visit our online programs for fun activities, conversations, and connections at home! Keep safe and we miss you! |
